2000- 2001 Bussell Research Group

In April 2001, five group members gave poster presentations at the Colloid and Surface Chemistry Division's Poster Session at the national American Chemical Society meeting in San Diego. At right is a photo of some of the group along with distinguished guests (members of the Patrick Group).

Group members presented three posters at the ACS meeting.

At right are Denise Shorten and Brian Diaz with their poster entitled "Molybdenum Carbide Hydrodesulfurization Catalysts: Effects of Promotion with Cobalt".

At rear in this photo is Scott Korlann explaining some results on his poster to an interested scientist. This poster, co-authored by Scott and Brian Diaz, is entitled "Bimetallic Nickel/Cobalt Molybdenum Nitride Catalysts for Use in Hydroprocessing of Fossil Fuels".

At left are Randy Shorten and Diana Phillips with their poster entitled "Synthesis, Characterization and Evaluation of Transition Metal Phosphide Hydrodesulfurization Catalysts". Randy and Diana's poster was selected by a panel of judges to share a $500 poster prize from the ACS Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry. Their poster was the only one presented by undergraduate students that was selected to receive an award.

Bussell Research Group students at the San Diego ACS meeting worked hard and, of course, played hard as well. Below is a photo of Scott, Brian and Denise enjoying a side trip to Disneyland.
