B.S. Biochemistry, Western Washington University, 1986.
M.S. Chemistry, Western Washington University, 1991.

After leaving WWU, Gary moved to Seattle where he worked At Bristol Myers Squibb as a research scientist until 1998. His main research focus was receptor tyrosine kinases and ligand biology specifically the EGFR family of receptors/ligands. Other fields of interest included neovascularization, cell cycle control and rheumatoid arthritis. Gary left BMS in 1998 and started his own graphics and design company which lead him to a graphics position at Immunex/Amgen where he worked until 2004 at which time he left to return to WWU. Most of his spare time he is with his daughter and two great danes but still trys to find time to play with sailboat racing or work on cars/motorcycles.
