Bring your calculator to the quiz!

For Quiz #3 (given in the last 15 minutes of lecture on Friday 10/22), the recommended problems to study from the Atkins and Jones text are:

3.9

3.11

3.17

3.35

3.55

3.65

3.69

Potential topics for the quiz questions include:

- predicting geometry, shape and polarity  from chemical formula for molecules and ions (electronegativity values will be given)

- Valence bond theory; names of hybrid orbitals; relationship between hybrid orbital geometries and VSEPR geometries

- using Molecular orbital theory to predict bond order and/or ground state radicals

There will be two or three quiz questions similar to the problems given above.  I recommend you prepare for quizzes by working all these problems ahead of time. See me in office hours (M 2-3pm, T 9-10am and W 10-11am and 2-3pm) if you have questions.
