For Quiz #6 (given in the last 15 minutes of lecture on Friday 11/19), the recommended problems to study from the Atkins and Jones text are:

as well as the in-class problem on the P/V diagram and calculations of q, w and DU etc..

 

Potential topics for the quiz questions include:

- using P/V diagrams to calculate P, V, T, q, w, DU and DH.

- the calculations of q, w, DU and DH described on the class handouts

- using heat capacity to calculate changes in temperature of a system given changes in heat (and vice versa).  See p 204-216

- enthalpies of phase changes.  See p 216-221

 

There will be two or three quiz questions similar to the problems given above.  I recommend you prepare for quizzes by working all these problems ahead of time. See me in office hours (M 2-3pm, T 9-10am and W 10-11am and 2-3pm) if you have questions.
